Description:

Length: 10 km (6.2 Miles)

Itinerary: Torre del Oro, Paseo Marqués de Contadero, Jardines de Chapina, Isla de la Cartuja, Parque del Alamillo, Paseo del Guadalquivir, Plaza de Toros, Palacio de San Telmo, Parque de María Luisa, Plaza de España, Puerta de Jerez, Catedral, Alcázar, Giralda, Barrio de Santa Cruz, Avenida de la Constitución. Arrival at Torre del Oro.

- Torre del Oro (Tower of Gold): Built in the 13th century, in the Almohad period. It is said that all the gold arriving from the West Indies and the New World was stored here (Customs).

- La Catedral (The Cathedral): Following the reconquest of Seville under Ferdinand III, it was decided that a church should be built, which according to legend, was “to be so large that those who come after us will take us for madmen.” The Cathedral was started in 1402, and built on the foundations of an old Arab Mosque. It has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

- Giralda: The most representative monument of Seville is the minaret of the Great Mosque. Construction began in 1184. The Giralda, standing at 117.50 metres, was once the tallest tower in Europe. Instead of stairs, the Giralda has ramps wide enough to be ridden up easily on horseback.

Reales Alcázares (Royal Palace/Gardens):
Undoubtedly, one of the most impressive monuments in Seville. This palatial compound is a must see sight. The Alcázar served as a fort and palace. Today, it is the residence of the Royal Family when they are visiting Seville. It has been used as a movie setting in famous films such as “Lawrence of Arabia.”

- Parque Maria Luisa (Maria Louisa Gardens & Plaza de España): These gardens, which first formed part of the San Telmo Palace Gardens, were donated in 1893 by the princess María Luisa Fernanda of Orleans. The Plaza de España and the Plaza de America were built within the garden grounds, and today are equally famous. We will stop here for refreshments and tapas (not included in the price.)

- Barrio de Santa Cruz (Santa Cruz Quarter): Located in the city centre, this beautiful district is full of old family homes, flower-filled patios, ivy-covered balconies, and legends. Enchantment, love, duels, and many memories whisper through these ancient walls.

- Real Fábrica de Tabaco (Royal Tobacco Factory): This 18th century stone building was the first tobacco factory in Europe. It is the setting of the famous legend of Carmen, the gypsy, who inspired Bizet’s opera. It currently houses the Rectorate of the University of Seville.

- Real Maestranza de Caballería de Sevilla (Royal Maestranza Bullring): The bullring, built in 1670, was originally used by noblemen to practice their weaponry skills and equestrian warfare at the service of the Spanish crown.
